Healthcare funders discuss economy and industry regulation’s impact on industry

Harare- Healthcare funder’s stakeholders will this week gather in Victoria Falls for their annual conference which will among other things deliberate on the country’s economic outlook and regulatory issues impact on the sector.

The Association of Healthcare Funders of Zimbabwe (AHFoZ), the convener, said in a statement that the conference will run from the 6th of September to the 9 under the theme “The Healthcare Ecosystem and Quality of Life”.

Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa will officially open the conference.

AHFoZ said the theme emphasises the role that different players in the health sector, including the patients themselves, play in promoting good health, which is so important for a person’s quality of life.

Participants are drawn from across the healthcare sector, including both healthcare service providers and healthcare funders.

Economist Dr Arnold Chidakwa will speak on the country’s economic outlook while Competition and Tariffs Commission of Zimbabwe economist Earnest Manjengwa will touch on the interface between competition and inclusive growth in the healthcare sector.

Health and Child Care Ministry finance director Heather Machamire will speak on the National Health Accounts for 2015, while AHFoZ chief executive Shylet Sanyanga will give an industry update.

There will also be  a panel discussion on the regulatory framework for medical aid societies. With participants in the panel discussion including  legislators Jessie Majome and Paul Chimedza, as well as  representatives of the Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC), the Ministry of Health and Child Care and AHFoZ.
