ZIMRE Holdings makes new executive appointments

Zimre Holdings Limited (ZHL), a Pan-African investment group, has made three new executive appointments as part of ongoing efforts to reenergize the group’s brands.

The new appointments are effective July 1, 2024.

“These strategic appointments are part of our ongoing efforts to reenergize the Group’s brands and align with our commitment to drive innovation, enhance customer experience, and accelerate growth in the various industries in which we operate,” the group said in a memo seen by Insurance24.

Leo Huvaya has been appointed to the ZHL Head Office leadership team as Executive New Markets and Innovation.

Huvaya, an insurance industry stalwart with a rich background in reinsurance and over 30 years of dedicated service within the ZHL Group, has since made a significant contribution towards Emeritus Re’s regional expansion.

“He has a proven track record of trailblazing and building formidable brands, invaluable expertise he brings to his new role,” reads the memo.

Maxwell Nderere has been appointed operations executive at Credsure. ZHL said he is an accomplished insurance practitioner who brings a wealth of experience in both insurance broking and short-term insurance.

“As an advocate for service excellence, Maxwell will ensure continued exceptional experience for the company’s diversified client base. His appointment is in line with Credsure’s drive to strengthen its leadership team,” reads the memo.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in risk management from NUST and a management programme qualification from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Tarupiwa Tarupiwa has been appointed as the new managing director for Emeritus Re Zimbabwe. He has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Zimbabwe.

He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Insurance of Zimbabwe.

“A visionary leader with deep understanding of the industry, Tarupiwa joined Zimre Group in 1997 and rose through the ranks to Managing Director.

“Tarupiwa’s appointment is testament to his exceptional performance and dedication over the years, and his strategic acumen will drive excellence as Emeritus Re continues its trajectory towards Africa domination,” reads the memo.
