Mastercard vice president of Southern Africa, Jabu Basopo, said the launch would go a long way in alleviating challenges faced by SMEs by providing a convenient and efficient way to manage business expenses.
“Customers are looking for speed, simplicity, safety, and security, and all those are embedded in all the services we are launching today. We are launching five products, but I would like to focus more on the corporate product because, for me, when I look at that, SMEs are some of the segments that we probably do not elevate as much.
“But the corporate product, obviously, looking at this market, is going to address the SME. We have a huge SME segment that is probably not looked at. And obviously, this is giving an opportunity to do that,” he said.
At the launch, Elisha Chibvuri, the ZB Bank Chief Executive Officer, said, “At ZBFH, our customers are at the heart of everything we do, “We heard your call for more choice and flexibility, and we are thrilled to announce the launch of Mastercard international cards and payment services.”
ZB has also enabled merchants to accept payments online through the Mastercard Payment Gateway, expanding the bank’s support for e-commerce.
