CIMAS says it has managed to grow into a medical-integrated organisation whose purpose is to inspire communities by providing local health and wellness solutions.

Cimas sales manager Taurai Ruzema, presenting at the just-ended EMCOZ business indaba last week, said CIMAS is not just a medical aid but is also into self-provision as well as wellness initiatives.

“So according to the medical integration that we have done at CIMAS as far as the health care solution provision is concerned, we have got plenty of primary care clinics that are across Zimbabwe, and our primary care clinics there are such that you can access your general practitioner as well as get your drugs under one roof, so it is sort of a one-stop shop.

“We have managed to put this in place so that we can give value to our distinct members. Should you need to access these clinics, then I am sure that in your primary care clinics, everything is sorted,” he said.

He added that CIMAS is also into laboratory science, and as of now, about 60% of laboratory tests that are done in Zimbabwe are done through CIMAS medical laboratories.

“So for our members, they are also able to get value by accessing these laboratory services. We also have a dedicated road and air ambulance provision called CIMAS Rescue, which takes care of our members should they need to be fed from one place to another.
“We also offer an air ambulance provision whereby, should you need to be transferred from Zimbabwe to even outside Zimbabwe, we also offer that which is available to our members.”

Ruzema said one of the company’s strategic pillars is that technological advancement is going to do quite a number of things in terms of improving outcomes for our members as well as improving the customer experience for customer advocates.

“So through this technological advancement, what we have done at CIMAS as of now is that, by virtue of being a CIMAS member, we have several apps that you can access.

“These apps include the main CIMAS app, whereby you can view your benefits without necessarily calling CIMAS.

“You can do quite a number of functions, such as visiting your doctor to view your benefits, updating your day-to-day information, and conducting health assessments. All of this can be done on the CIMAS app,” he said.

Ruzema noted that CIMAS also has a reputational app that also teaches, which is called the CIMAS Medicare Express app, which was purchased in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown.

“So what this app does is that you are able to buy medication from the comfort of your home, and it is delivered at no extra cost as long as you are an CIMAS member and also as long as 20 kilometres within the radius of the main city,” he said.

On wellness, he said CIMAS is there to inspire the other communities. “So when we look at the issue of the other communities, we are saying yes, CIMAS is not there for you just to take care of you when you are sick.
“We are also there for you to take care of you when you are well. So according to the biophysics in the United States, they say, wellness is not just the absence of a disease; it’s more of a lifestyle.
“So through this lifestyle, we look at eight dimensions of wellness. We look at physical, emotional, psychological, and intellectual wellness.

“When all these eight dimensions are in sync, we can safely say somebody is well,” said Ruzema.

He said that with these eight dimensions of wellness, CIMAS has some partners that we partner with where you get discounts, such as gym facilities, fitness clubs, and yoga groups that you can buy at specific outlets where you also get discounts at the rate of being a CIMAS member.
